There are many natural sweeteners to choose from if you want to avoid sugar, but don‘t want any of the artificial sweeteners over which there are a few questions. You can choose from xylitol, luo han, stevia and others, but before discussing these, let‘s have a look at the problems with sugar, artificial sweeteners and the American sugar industry.

Sugar as most people know it originates either from sugar cane or sugar beet, though by far the biggest American industry is in the cane. There are many different types of sugar, though that obtainable from cane sugar is sucrose. Sucrose is a disaccharide and carbohydrate, stored by plants as a reserve energy source to be used when needed. Humans cannot directly use sucrose, and it is metabolized in the body to glucose which needs the hormone insulin to help convert it into energy.

Insulin is produced in the pancreas, and a lack of it, or the body‘s failure to use it properly, is referred to as diabetes. There are two types of diabetes:

Type 1: A total lack or deficiency of insulin due to the pancreas producing insufficient quantities of insulin, or even none at all. This is often seen in young people and is generally cause by the immune system attacking the insulin-producing sells in the pancreas. The treatment for type 1 diabetes is to introduce insulin to the blood, normally by means of injections, plenty exercise and the adoption of a high carbohydrate low fat diet.

Type 2: This is strongly associated with obesity and weight, and is due either to insufficient insulin production by the pancreas (but not as deficient as for Type 1 diabetes) or an inability of the cells of the body to properly use insulin. Type 2 diabetes does not always require insulin injections, and can be treated by exercise, diet and weight control. However, there are occasions where insulin injections are also required. It tends to affect people older than those with Type 1 diabetes and 90% of cases are of this type.

There is a requirement of 40 vitamins in order to maintain proper health. But, these vitamins are required in very small amounts as they form a group of nutrition known as micro-nutrients. Vitamins do not provide energy to the body which is actually provided by fats, proteins and carbohydrates. The main function of the vitamin is to develop chemical reactions between the nutrients and the minerals of the body. It is a fact that vitamin cannot be complete without the presence of the supplements of multi mineral which are required to be included in their formula.

Our body can absorb only the required amount of vitamin as it does not the ability to keep the vitamins in stock in the body. The excess amount of vitamins are passed away in the kidneys and then out in the urine. While taking the vitamins and minerals more than recommended on daily basis, then it can result into the discolored urination due to the presence of some amount of vitamins and minerals. There are some vitamins like A, D and K which are fat soluble but, overdose of these vitamins can get piled up in the organs until they are used. All the vitamins are essential for good health but, they should be taken in an appropriate amount. Don’t Try to Escape Your Life

Americans have become more and more addicted to escapism in all of its forms. If you don’t believe me, just take a minute to think about how you spend your free time. How much of your time is spent in front of the tv, watching a movie, shopping, or playing video games? Do you possibly drink too much, smoke too much, or abuse drugs? There are so many options for escapism in America, it is hard to resist them. They offer the appeal of what appears to be a quick fix from life’s problems. To make matters worse, advertisers are focused almost solely on preaching the virtues of retail therapy, or the concept that buying something, be it a movie ticket or a new pair of pants, will instantly transform your life into a glamorous, exciting existence.

Of course watching TV, movies, or even shopping aren’t all bad, but when done in excess, they limit your opportunities to learn and grow. I won’t even get into abusing alcohol or drugs to escape because the negative effect of these addictions on the life of a substance abuser are very obvious and very well documented. If you are struggling at all in this area, please watch the show “Intervention” on A&E. This is the best show on the affects of addiction.

You need to sit down and think about how you may have been affected by advertisers if you want to get down to your true desires and start developing your own talents. You may be surprised when you realize that you are actually very persuaded to think that a new Gucci bag instantly makes you a better person. The reality is, what makes you a better person is so much more about how you interact with people every day–how you show your character, how you become a true friend to someone.

These are all valid reasons for escapism, and there are many more. But when escaping starts to become your reality, you are in for trouble. You should take time to reflect on how you use your time, and if you’re trying to escape instead of developing your own talents and pursuing healthy goals to better your own life, living vicariously through someone else in the tabloids or on the movie screen will never make you happy.
